NEW THIS FALL

A quietly powerful portrait of an Irish American Catholic family gathered over a single day as their formidable matriarch lies dying, Elizabeth Cullinan’s acclaimed 1970 novel returns to print with a new Foreword by Alice McDermott

"The truth is Elizabeth Cullinan has had the courage to compose a moving and original work of fiction, out of unlikely materials that have hitherto been largely overlooked."

The New York Times

"An impressive first novel, centered around the regal expiration of an Irish-American matriarch and the initial dissolution of the sustaining myth that contained and shaped her children."

Kirkus Reviews
