Critical Studies in Italian Migrations Series

Helping Your Book Reach Readers

Author Tips

Books in the Critical Studies in Italian Migrations series contribute to ongoing conversations about migration, culture, and Italian diasporic experience. Fordham University Press (FUP) works closely with authors to promote these titles to scholars, instructors, students, libraries, and engaged readers.

Quick Start for Authors

·         Tell us about events. Let the marketing team know about upcoming talks, conferences, or media appearances.

·         Request flyers early. Contact us at least four weeks before conferences or events if you would like promotional materials.

·         Share review ideas. Send suggestions for journals, blogs, podcasts, or media outlets that may be interested in your book.

·         Spread the word. Share news about your book through professional networks, mailing lists, and social media.

Stay in Touch with the Marketing Team

·         Upcoming book talks or events

·         Conference presentations

·         Reviews, interviews, podcasts, or media coverage

·         Awards, fellowships, or publicity opportunities

Event Materials: If you need promotional flyers or graphics for a conference or event, or if you plan to promote your book at a conference where Fordham University Press will not be exhibiting, please contact the marketing team at least four weeks in advance so we have time to prepare materials. We can provide printable PDF flyers for authors to share or display. Contact: Katie Sweeney Parmiter (kasweeney@fordham.edu)

Pro Tip: Bring a copy of your book to academic meetings as a backup—shipping delays and mishaps do happen.

Organize Talks and Events

Consider organizing a book talk, panel, or launch event at:

·         Your home institution

·         A colleague’s institution

·         A conference you regularly attend

·         An independent bookstore
